Dear DCH neighbors,

I want to wish everyone a very happy New Year as we enter 2024! This New Year brings with it not just hopes of fresh snow and great skiing, but tangible action toward a brighter future for our neighborhood. We are excited to get to work with our new five-member Board of Directors, who have all committed to sharing the responsibilities of managing our community with dedication and enthusiasm. This expanded team allows us to distribute the workload more effectively, ensuring that no single aspect of our collective well-being goes overlooked.

We're currently in the process of preparing to send out the annual Dues Assessments for 2024. Everyone will receive an assessment letter which may be paid by mail in check, online via credit card or ACH. There have been some substantial changes to the Budget format and new state requirements for the Reserve Funds that required us to raise the assessments. For more information, please see the Financials page.

You may already be aware of the ongoing renovations to our community spaces. Our highly motivated property manager Barry Savage is diligently overseeing daily operations and maintenance. Some of his initial priority efforts include repairs to the gate and pool heater, ensuring their safe and enjoyable use for all residents. Additionally, we are actively engaged in rehabilitating and maintaining the grounds and common areas, working to restore their pristine beauty and functionality.

Beyond immediate improvements, we are looking toward the future. We have established dedicated Committees composed of your fellow residents, each focused on researching and proposing effective solutions for enhancing specific common areas. Whether it's the playground, the clubhouse, or the landscaping, these committees will actively seek your input and ideas, ensuring that any improvements reflect the wishes and needs of our diverse community.

To further foster this collaborative spirit, we are planning a "Community Clean-up Day" on a bright Saturday in mid-May. This will be a fantastic opportunity for us to all roll up our sleeves, work together, and give the grounds and recreation area around the pool a much-needed refresh. It will be a day when you can get to know your neighbors while helping with cleaning up the grounds and trails, working on minor but meaningful projects, taking breaks for refreshments, and enjoying a cookout. It's a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors.

Our Property Manager, Barry Savage, is our primary Point of Contact for both ROUTINE communications and URGENT problem issues requiring an immediate response.
  • ROUTINE: For POA-related general and policy questions, please submit a message via the "Contact Us" page so that we can log your request and respond accordingly.
  • URGENT: For immediate POA-related issues or questions, please contact Barry Savage by phone at 304-216-5713 or Email [email protected]. If Barry is unreachable, please contact Brian Sweeney at 571-484-4103 or email [email protected]. If Brian is unreachable, please send a message to the Board at [email protected]
  • EMERGENCY: Call 9-1-1 for a life-threatening emergency (EMS, Fire, Police). For all other types of emergencies please check out our Area Contacts & Vendors page for electricians, plumbers, vendors, etc.
Lastly, If you haven't already, please register on the DCH POA website at https://www.dchighlands.com/. This will allow you to keep up with community news, gain full access to documents, pay dues, and communicate with the manager, board, and neighbors.

I look forward to working with everyone to keep the Highlands as the premier community at Deep Creek Lake.

Respectfully,
Brian Sweeney
President, DCH POA
